Our Heroes talk to some people

Bye to Svar

Xylien, in a bold move driven by boredom or desperation, directly asks Svar if he knows where the Mines of Chaos are. He deflects the question, having to get back to work, and inviting you to chat again later.

The party visits a pawn shop. Noer buys a sign.

The party found the closest thing the Keep has to a banker in the Middle Baily: Gwindle Pennythrift, a member of the Moneychangers Guild who runs both a small bank and a pawn shop.

Noer, bless his misguided heart, asked about the painting out front ("NOTICE: These Premises Under Direct Protection of the Keep") and Gwindle was willing to sell it. Noer foolishly offered to buy it at 35sp and Gwindle said "Sold!" Noer has so far not gotten around to paying for his purchase.

A random selection of other items: (note well: there were a lot more)

  • 3 vellum books, blank
  • 1 Wig, female cut, blonde
  • 1 Boot, left
  • 1 "Hunter's chest" containing many vials
  • 1 stuffed cat
  • 1 ..."Combat squirrel."

The squirrel bit Xy, but liked Vanessa well enough, and she was quite taken with him. After a bit of haggling (i.e., flirting), Vanessa bought the squirrel for 1sp.

The party escaped with minimal harm.

Shopping for Leatherwork

Our Heroes found Gandle's Leather Shop, which had a lot of space for a simple leather shop. As they stepped in, Noer was struck with inspiration and asked to commission a set of armor for the combat squirrel. The Dwarf proprietor Gandle and his Human wife Vedra looked at the corpse of the blue flying electric snake and settled on a fair price for making the armor. Gandle thought he could also manage a belt for Noer, all for 15sp. Measurements were taken and the leathersmith set to work.

The Paymaster: hunting bounties for fun and profit.

Our Heroes briefly met a half...orc? Bounty Hunter, claiming payment for some ears. He gave the impression he was pretty competent. He's also the only person with his racial mix you've seen anywhere in the Keep.

The party signed up as bounty hunters with the Paymaster (Frowler Thriftaxe). There is an expectation that they will be turning in regular bounties.

Old Man Quid - the herbalist

Reginald drops in quickly to see what's offered at "Herbs and Medicinals." Old Man Quid (older bald guy, skin black as night) told our hero that he didn't have time for such nonsense and offered him a spiel on various plans. Reginald declined. As he was leaving, Quid asked him to deliver some Lipodium moss to Jarl at the Tilted Keg.

Quote of the Day

Gandle, calling Noer on his bluff to buy the sign: "For you friend, 35sp." Art Critic Oleum, stage whisper: "It's a bargain."
